Courtney Cunningham – Financial Coach
Helping you master your money and achieve financial freedom
Hi, I’m Courtney, a Dave Ramsey certified financial coach dedicated to helping people overcome the bondage of financial stress. I have a heart for low income and single income families, who need help to take control of their finances and build a life of security and freedom.
Why I became a Financial Coach
I grew up watching my parents struggle financially with the crushing weight of debt. I started adulthood knowing I never wanted to be in the same position but did not necessarily have the tools to prevent it. My husband and I started our life together at 19 and 20 with a baby and no college degrees. We weren’t exactly set up for success when it came to finances. My fear of debt however pushed me to seek solutions to keep my family moving in the right direction. I taught myself to budget, meal plan, and pinch pennies to make ends meet. However, life was almost always paycheck to paycheck, regardless of how much we made.
We were introduced to Dave Ramsey principles in 2019 and that’s when things started to shift. Financial Peace University gave us some new tools and helped us learn to communicate about our finances in a way we had never done before. We paid off the debt we had (about $15,000) and started building a new financial foundation.
No longer having debt and realizing that even on a limited budget we did not have to live paycheck to paycheck gave me so much hope that I decided I wanted to share that hope with others. I became a coach so that I could help others find the same freedom that I was finding, simply by building a plan for our money.
My approach
I believe that financial success isn’t about how much you earn but rather how intentional you are with what you have. My coaching sessions are a place for people to feel heard and know you are not alone. Together we not only deal with finding practical tools for success but dig deeper into the emotions and habits that got you there in the first place. I use proven strategies like zero-based budgeting, goal setting, and long term financial planning to help you gain clarity and control over your money.
Who I Work With
I am happy to partner with anyone who needs an accountability partner along their financial journey. I do however have a heart for families and those living on a lower or single income. I find it can be helpful to know that someone relates to your situation and has been through similar circumstances. We can all benefit from a coach, a mentor, and a cheerleader. I am here to help provide that as you navigate your path forward.
What to expect
In our sessions, I will meet you where you are. Maybe that means focusing on the tangible budgeting task so you have a clear plan for the month ahead. Or maybe we spend more time discussing the habits that are keeping you stuck or preventing you from building a budget you can follow. Wherever you are, I want to guide you forward, providing action steps and feedback along the way. My goal is to hold you accountable to the goals you set for yourself.
Fun facts about me
When I am not coaching I am homeschooling my four amazing kids, running a large homeschool co-op, and supporting my husband in his own business ventures. We absolutely love the outdoors, so much so that we picked up and moved from the big city to a small rural town in Eastern Oregon in 2021. We enjoy the slower pace of life that our rural town offers, along with hiking, fishing, and skiing in the winter. Aside from my family, my faith means everything to me. If it weren’t for God’s grace I would not be where I am today.
